Brownie Goody Bars

Here's the very first recipe for our brand new family recipe blog!  I'm so excited!

I found this recipe on bettycrocker.com.  We had the missionaries over for dinner tonight, and we had these for dessert.  They turned out REALLY yummy.  They are a tad bit rich, and you all know that if I'M saying that, then they really must be rich.  I can typically handle any level of richness, but this was almost over the top... or maybe I'm just getting older.   Ummm, no, that can't be it...

1 box brownie mix (9x13 size)*
Water, vegetable oil, and eggs called for on brownie mix box
1 container Betty Crocker Rich and Creamy vanilla frosting
3/4 cup salted peanuts, coarsely chopped
3 cups rice krispies
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1-12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)

*I started making this thinking that I had a brownie mix when I really didn't.  I just used this brownie recipe off of allrecipes, and it turned out great.

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom only of 13x9 inch pan.
2. Make and bake brownies as directed on box.  Cool completely, 1 hour.
3. Frost brownies with frosting.  Sprinkle with peanuts; refrigerate while making cereal mixture.
4. Measure cereal into large bowl; set aside. In saucepan, melt peanut butter and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly.  Pour over cereal in bowl; stirring until evenly coated. Spread over frosted brownies.  Cool completely before cutting, about 1 hour.
